Rethinking waste management
JTS Group leads the way in aluminium dross recycling and agriculture waste management.

Key Milestones

1989
JTS Engineering ("JTSE") was set up in Singapore as the 1st dedicated dross recycling facility. It was initially established as a joint venture between Japanese commercial partners. However, JTSE later moved its operations to Pasir Gudang, Malaysia in 1993.

2012
JTS Optimax ("JTSO") was founded as JTS' Research And Development arm. Among other research efforts, it mainly focused on the upcycling of Aluminium Deox, a hazardous waste material that is commonly landfilled.

Within the same year, the Research And Development team also filed a patent that converts agricultural waste into Activated-char ("AC)".
2015
Taiyo Biomass ("TAIYO") was primarily formed to build JTS' biomass sourcing network, which mainly deals with agricultural waste derived from the palm oil industry. While building inroads in the biomass sourcing and trading business, the management team has further built a deep understanding of biomass' potential as a source of renewable energy.

2019
JTSO had discovered a breakthrough in deploying green fuel derived from agricultural waste to be used in JTSE's aluminium furnaces. This enabled JTSE to produce green-aluminium, thereby reducing its reliance on fossil fuels to power its operations.

JTSO also successfully piloted a biochar plant that upcycles agricultural wastes into premium fertilisers in the form of Biochar. Field tests on the quality of Biochar were conducted with local farmers and foreign customers, and superior results were achieved.

JTSE successfully registered its carbon credits via carbon emissions avoided from utilising bio-fuel in producing aluminium products.
2022
TAIYO and JTSO jointly developed a product tracking software which improved the traceability and movement of TAIYO's biomass products.

Present Day
JTS is involved in multiple research projects with local universities in green products and renewable energy.

JTS readily trades its carbon credits in local exchanges and will continue to unlock its carbon credit potential by making progress in achieving its decarbonisation goals.
