Dedicated Research And Development

JTS Optimax ("JTSO") is a dedicated Research And Development arm within JTS. Over the past decade, it has designed and successfully patented technologies. The patents include the conversion of agricultural waste into Activated-char (“AC”), a soil conditioner that improves soil quality, reduce fertiliser use and produce electricity. JTSO remains focused in continuing Research And Development and expanding operations targeted at decarbonisation e.g., upcycling agricultural wastes and generation of renewable electricity.

Case Studies & Testimonials

Existing Durian Plantation (Tangkak) Case Study
The test site was located at a Durian plantation in Johor, which has over 40 years of durian farming where soil quality was observed to have deteoriated. It was further observed that trees in the plantation were infected with Kanker Batang (Phytophthora Palmivora). However, through a trial utilising JTSO's Activated-char products, healthy seedlings were discovered after 3 months. After 4 months, healthy tall plants are observed after 4 months.

Local farmers at the plantion have commented that plants have a greater growth potential given positive plant and soil results. Additionally, the soil was observed to have a deeper colour given a blend of biochar and fertiliser into the soil.

New Durian Plantation Case Study
Test site was located at a new Durian plantation in Johor, where the soil was previously used for Oil Palm planting. Nursery seedlings were planted and test with and without Activated-char. The soil quality observed before the experiment was well rested and maintained.

Tomato Growth Field Test
The test site was located in Japan, where a cultivation field test was conducted using mini tomato "Aiko" red and yellow varieties. The advantages of JTSO's Activated-char was reported by an independent third-party tester. The results received were highly positive including a good drainage effect, improved soil water retention, increased in the harvest and the sweetness of produce. It was discovered that this was due to a high buffering capacity by retaining soil nutrients and preventing excessive absorption of nitrogen which may lead to slower growth and fruiting of crops.
